Biography
Dr. Aziz Douai received a Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the Pennsylvania State University, Pennsylvania, in addition to M.Sc. in Advertising from Boston University, Massachusetts, and a B.A. in English from Ibn Tofail University, Morocco. Prior to joining UOIT, Dr. Douai worked as an Assistant Professor of International Communications at Franklin College - Switzerland. Over the past few years, he has taught a range of mass communication courses including The History of Communication, Communication Ethics, Communication Law and Policy, and Communication and Culture, among others. He had also taught International Communication classes at Pennsylvania State University.
An active conference participant, his publications have appeared in the Global Media Journal and the International Communication Bulletin. His recent publications include "Offline politics in the Arab blogosphere" a chapter in International Blogging: Identity, Politics, and Networked Publics and "In Democracy's shadow: The 'new' independent press and the limits of media reform in Morocco" in the Westminster Papers in Communication and Culture Journal. He is currently working on a book manuscript, The Media Wars in the Middle East: The Illusions of Pursuing Arab Hearts and Minds, an analysis of the US sponsored Al-Hurra Television and Arab public opinion.
